Finding Paradise: One Woman’s Bali Stress Relief Retreat

After years of working in a high pressure financial career, Louise Reid felt like there was more to life. Leaving her corporate life behind her, Lou found herself in Bali, wondering what her next step in life would be.

It’s a situation many of us find ourselves in. Working more than 9-5, with that stressful commute, shackled to our jobs because of the golden handcuffs of a high paying wage which sustains our expensive lifestyles.

But what if you could break free from that stressful cycle of life and find your own paradise? For Louise Reid, she felt for many years like her job in banking was everything she wanted. Money, a career path, recognition in her job and a busy social life.

Today, she has eschewed this high pressure lifestyle and lives in Bali, running her own stress retreat, teaching women from around the world how to take back control of their lives.

So, how did she find her own road to paradise…?

A Life-Changing Trip for Louise

In 2013, Louise went on a vacation for 2 weeks to Ubud in Bali with her then partner. That was the turning point, where she started questioning her life choices and her stressful lifestyle.

In the spiritual surroundings of Bali’s highland town, an epiphany hit her, which made her realize that corporate life was not a good fit for her. Like many of us, she craved positivity, relaxation, and happiness.

Returning to her job back in London, she had the nagging sense that there was something more to life.

“I started getting scared that high pressure, stress and exhaustion  were going to be my life for the next 40 years.

“…(at the time) I wasn’t ready to give up the paycheck. So I decided to turn that frown upside down… I learnt about meditation, forgave people and decided to stop working when things were done, not when they were perfect.

“…I started doing things outside of work and I became the Queen version of me. I changed my focus from my career to improving myself”.

Louise had found her positivity and her focus changed. People started coming to her asking for advice about how to be more positive, which was where the seeds were sown for her future business idea.

Finally, after 4 years,  in 2017, she quit her job, packed her stuff, fastened her seatbelt, and traveled across the globe for 8 months.

This time was spent hunting for anything that would resist her from going back to London.

Drawn Back to Bali

After traveling thousands of miles, Lou finally landed in Bali again. It was here, at the scene of her earlier epiphany, that she realised that she could offer the key to a less stressful life for women just like her.

The feeling of being safe, the peacefulness of the surroundings and the stress free lifestyle made her decide to call Bali home. It was here too that she met her future husband, and where she decided to set up her business.

Today, from her home in Bali, Louise runs a 90-day course called EEM – Energy Enhancement Method.

The course is designed to help women suffering from stress, depression and the pressures of our modern living. Offering women from all walks of life a different perspective, it teaches them how to get back on their feet when life knocks them down and how to rediscover that lost energy.

Bali itself is a beautiful and diverse island and one that is very popular with travellers from all around the world. With the stresses and anxiety caused by the Coronavirus pandemic, people looking for a beautiful and peaceful place to reconnect with the planet will find a warm welcome from Louise in Bali.
