The year 2020 took a wrong turn, we can all agree on that. From Coronavirus to economic collapse and a whole lot of upheaval around the world.

Although things might seem hopeless sometimes, we just need to take a moment to recharge our batteries. There are plenty of serene travel destinations you can head to to escape the madness of the world around us.

It is important to remember that the world is a beautiful place. It is filled with mesmerizing places wherever you turn. Serene spots are everywhere too! But, let us mention some of the most beautiful ones across the world. We will share with you some of the most serene spots to travel to and all you have to do is let your mind drift.

AVENUE OF THE BAOBABS, MADAGASCAR

There are two things that come to mind when somebody mentions Madagascar – lemurs and the baobabs. If you are a social media addict, you have probably seen those pictures of a sunset in the Avenue of the Baobabs and wished you were there. Who would not wish to visit a place like that?

But, if the Avenue of the Baobabs has been one of your bucket list ideas for a long time and now you are finally ready to visit it, here is what you need to know.

In Madagascar, there are several different areas where you can find baobabs. And, there are exactly 7 different types of baobab trees as well. If you want to visit that famous avenue, you must first go to the city of Morondava, located in West Madagascar. Then, 40 minutes Northeast of Morondava, you will see the Avenue of Baobabs.

Plan your day there. Bring food and water as tourism here is not that developed. Whatever you do, do not miss out on the famous sunset on the Avenue of the Baobabs. It is one of a kind and one of the most serene spots to travel to.

Visiting the Avenue of the Baobabs is something you will remember for the rest of your life.

ARASHIYAMA BAMBOO GROVE, JAPAN

Speaking of spectacular trees and the serene atmosphere they create, we cannot go without mentioning the amazing Arashiyama Bamboo Grove in Japan. Visiting this serene spot will make you feel as if you stepped into an entirely different world. While walking through the peaceful green groves, you will be surrounded by seemingly endless heights of bamboo trees which evoke a feeling of awe.

So, how to get to one of the world’s most serene spots called Arashiyama Bamboo Grove? Well, first you have to go to Japan, and then to its ancient city called Kyoto. Then, just hop on the train that will lead you to Arashiyama.

Do not stop here, though! While you are in Arashiyama, make an effort to visit the beautiful Kameyama-Koen Park or one of the many alluring temples, Nison-In Temple, Jojako-Jin Temple, Adashino-Nembutsu-Ji Temple, for example.

Do not forget to bring your camera while visiting Arashiyama.

GALÁPAGOS ISLANDS, ECUADOR

The next on our list of the most serene spots to travel to is the one and only – Galapagos. There is not a person in the world who has not dreamed of visiting this place. The islands of Galapagos are mysterious and majestic, but serene at the same time. So, if you are ready for an adventure, pack your bags and book a flight for Ecuador.

The Galapagos Islands are worth exploring. Here, you can enjoy the most beautiful beaches, crystal clear water, endless forests, active volcanoes, wildlife reserves, and of course, giant turtles. Each island is unique and each island offers different things to do. So, leave no stone unturned, if you get a chance to visit this idyllic place!

Put the Galapagos Islands on your bucket list! Once you visit it, you will most likely want to be moving house and transferring your life abroad, here in Ecuador.

ISLE OF SKYE, SCOTLAND

The Isle of Skye is a fantastic place for peace and quiet

If you ask anybody who visited the Isle of Skye in Scotland, he or she will tell you that this place is what dreams are made of. And, they are not wrong. This serene spot in Scotland is full of endless hills, fairy pools, and one-of-a-kind nature.

So, what is to do here in the Isle of Skye? Well, the first thing on your list should be the Old Man of Storr – a place that offers unbelievable views of the entire area. Then, check out the Brother’s Point the Kilt Rock, and the Meat Falls. Consider renting a car and just wandering around. You will be surprised by the beauty this place can offer.

And, while you are there, go meet the locals. Many of them offer bed & breakfast, so support the local tourism and stay in the heart of the Isle of Skye.

Prepare for the Journey

All of the places mentioned above are probably a long way from home. So, if you decide to fulfill your lifelong wish and tick a something off your bucket list, make sure you are prepared. Firstly, thoroughly research the place you plan on visiting. Check the current situation of that country or city (because of the COVID situation, you must look after your health when traveling even more than usual). If everything seems fine, check the validity of your passport and start packing your bags.

Once again, research the place you want to travel to so that you would know what to pack. Keep in mind that some places will have a climate quite different from the one you are experiencing now. Thus, pack accordingly. Moreover, make sure to pack the items specifically for the adventure you chose. For example, if you want to visit the Galapagos Islands, you absolutely need your swimsuit, snorkeling gear, sun protection, etc. And, if you are going to the Avenue of the Baobabs, make sure you have your hiking shoes.
